Web 2.0

user-generated content: content that can be created, edited and produced and destroyed by an online user

long tail: selling a large number of unique items in relatively small quantities , could also be called exclusivity, and selling fewer popular items in large quantities, which could also be called bulk.

network as platform: a web operating system such as internet explorer, safari, or firefox? ( honestly still don’t know what this means)

folksonomy: something used to “tag” user generated content, in order for it to be found when searched under key words (which can also be described as folksonomy)

syndication: is when news, games, viral video’s, or pretty much any information, is gathered and made available to multiple sites

mass collaboration: is when a group of people (users) form together to work on a single specific task

computer supported collaboration: focuses on how technology effects people, groups, and communities.

hosted services: a service (site) that provides security, storage or file conversions
web applications: a web add-on that enhances the users experience on a web site, while using the aids of such programs as Flash and Java

social-software: allows user’s of the internet to share, upload and promote all sorts of data.

video-sharing sites: host user generated videos, (ex. Photobucket, youtube, viemo)

wikis: a site that allows any user to create, edit or delete information, in order to receive the most accurate definition of something

blogs: a personal web page for users to voice their opinions, post pictures, videos, rant about their day, or pretty much anything. They are free to run and maintain while also allowing others to follow other “blogs” they like

mashups : a mix between one or more “things” into one complete and continuous “thing”
